Murdoch University Scholarships 2027 — Up to 20% Off Fees
Murdoch University in Perth is taking 15% to 20% off tuition fees for international students who start in 2027. The discount lasts for your whole degree, and you never fill in a scholarship application: it is added automatically when you are admitted.
For Pakistani students, the key point is that Pakistan is on the eligible-country list for the 15% Welcome Scholarship, and the 20% Futures Scholarship has no country list at all. This guide explains which of the three current awards fits you, the courses that qualify, what the discount is worth in real money, and the conditions that catch applicants out.

🎓 About Murdoch University Scholarships 2027
Murdoch University is a public university founded in 1973. Its main campus is in Perth, the capital of Western Australia. It is well known for veterinary science, environmental science, psychology, and a large, growing international student community. Perth is also usually cheaper to live in than Sydney or Melbourne, which matters when a scholarship only covers part of your costs.
For the 2027 intake, Murdoch is offering three coursework awards for international students:
- International Futures Scholarship 2027: 20% off tuition for 10 named degrees
- International Welcome Scholarship 2027: 15% off tuition for almost all coursework degrees, for citizens of eligible countries
- International Welcome Scholarship 2028: the same 15% offer for students who start a year later
Be clear about what these awards are. They are not fully funded. They don’t cover living costs, airfare or health insurance. They are closer to a guaranteed discount than a competitive scholarship, and that is exactly why they are useful: you don’t compete with thousands of applicants for a handful of places.
Compare this with the Australia Awards scholarship, which covers everything but accepts only a small share of Pakistani applicants after a long selection process. Murdoch’s offer is the opposite trade-off: less money, but close to certain if you meet the criteria. Returning readers may also notice that the Futures Scholarship was 25% in our 2026 Futures Scholarship guide. For 2027 it has dropped to 20%.
💰 Benefits and Funding
- 🎯 Futures Scholarship 2027: 20% off tuition fees, taken off your fees each teaching period
- 🎯 Welcome Scholarship 2027 and 2028: 15% off tuition fees, taken off your fees each teaching period
- 📆 Duration: the discount continues for the prescribed length of your course, so it is not limited to the first year
- 📝 No separate application: the discount is given automatically at admission if you meet every criterion
- 🔁 Intakes covered: Semester 1, Semester 2, and Trimesters 1, 2 and 3
- 🚫 Not covered: living costs, Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC), visa fees, airfare
What it’s worth in real money: take a course costing AUD 35,000 a year as an example. The 20% Futures discount saves AUD 7,000 a year, or about AUD 21,000 over a three-year bachelor’s degree. The 15% Welcome discount saves AUD 5,250 a year, or about AUD 10,500 over a two-year master’s.
At roughly PKR 180–190 per AUD, a 20% saving over three years comes to about PKR 3.8–4 million. These figures are only an example. Your actual saving depends on your course fee and today’s exchange rate (verify on official website).
✅ Eligibility Criteria
All three scholarships require you to:
- Be an international, full fee-paying student
- Start your studies at a Murdoch campus in Western Australia in the scholarship year (2027 or 2028)
- Not be an Australian citizen or permanent resident
- Not receive any other Murdoch scholarship at the same time
- Not be sponsored by the Australian Government or another government or organisation that pays your tuition
Futures Scholarship 2027 only: you must enrol in one of the 10 eligible courses listed below. There is no eligible-country list.
Welcome Scholarships 2027 and 2028 only: you must be a citizen of one of the 70+ eligible countries. Pakistan, India, Bangladesh, Nepal and Sri Lanka are all on the list. Four courses are excluded: Bachelor of Science (Veterinary Biology), Doctor of Veterinary Medicine, Bachelor of Nursing and Master of Clinical Psychology.
English test: the scholarship pages don’t set a separate English score. You simply need to meet the English requirement of the course you are admitted to, which is usually an IELTS, PTE or TOEFL score listed on each course page (verify on official website).
Pakistani students: eligible for all three awards, as long as your tuition isn’t paid by a sponsor such as an HEC or university-funded program.
✅ Strong Candidates
- Self-funded students who want a guaranteed discount rather than a competitive gamble
- Students applying for Business, Data Analytics, Psychology, Biomedical Science or Engineering Practice, who can get the full 20%
- Pakistani and South Asian graduates who already meet the IELTS/PTE requirement and have family funding or an education loan in place
- Students who want Perth’s lower living costs and a smaller campus
❌ Not the Right Fit If
- You need a fully funded scholarship. These awards cover none of your living costs
- Your tuition is paid by HEC, your employer or another sponsor
- You want Nursing, Veterinary or Clinical Psychology, which are excluded from the Welcome awards
- You are planning a PhD or research master’s. See the RTP route below instead
A note on competitiveness for South Asian applicants: because the award is automatic, your grades don’t compete with anyone else’s. What matters is passing the admission and the Genuine Student checks for the Australian student visa (subclass 500). Pakistani applicants should put their effort into strong financial documents and a clear study plan, not into essays aimed at winning the scholarship.
📚 Eligible Courses and Fields
The International Futures Scholarship 2027 (20%) only applies to these 10 degrees:
- Bachelor of Business
- Bachelor of Psychology
- Bachelor of Biomedical Science
- Bachelor of Data Analytics
- Bachelor of Health Science / Master of Clinical Chiropractic
- Master of Health Administration, Policy and Leadership
- Master of Criminology
- Master of Communication
- Master of Forensic Science
- Master of Engineering Practice
The International Welcome Scholarships (15%) cover almost every Bachelor’s, Graduate Certificate, Graduate Diploma and coursework Master’s degree, except the four excluded courses listed above. Because you can’t hold two Murdoch scholarships at once, choose the Futures course if your subject is on its list. Otherwise, the Welcome Scholarship is your default.
Planning a PhD instead? These awards don’t cover research degrees. Murdoch’s fully funded research route is covered in our Murdoch University RTP Scholarship 2027 guide.
📄 Required Documents
There is no separate scholarship form, so these are the documents for your course admission, which is where the scholarship is decided:
- Passport: this proves your citizenship for the Welcome eligible-country check
- Academic transcripts and degree certificates: for bachelor’s applicants, Matric/O-Level and FSc/A-Level results
- English test result: IELTS Academic, PTE Academic or TOEFL iBT, as required by your course (verify on official website)
- CV or résumé: mainly for postgraduate applicants
- Statement or Genuine Student information: explains why you chose this course and Murdoch
- Proof of financial capacity: needed later for your visa and Confirmation of Enrolment (CoE)
A common confusion for Pakistani students: Murdoch doesn’t list HEC degree attestation as a scholarship requirement. Universities usually accept certified copies at the admission stage. Attestation may still be requested later by the visa office or an agent, so getting your HEC attestation done early avoids delays (verify on official website).
🧭 Step-by-Step Application Process
- Check which award fits you. If your course is on the Futures list, you are aiming for 20%. Otherwise, you are aiming for the 15% Welcome Scholarship.
- Choose an intake. Semester 1 (around February) or Semester 2 (around July) are the most common, and trimester intakes are also covered.
- Apply for admission through Murdoch’s international students portal, either directly or through a registered Murdoch agent in Pakistan.
- Look for the scholarship in your offer letter. If you are eligible, the 15% or 20% reduction should appear there as a fee discount.
- Accept the offer and pay the deposit to receive your CoE.
- Apply for the subclass 500 student visa using your CoE, OSHC and financial documents.
Practical tip: if your offer letter doesn’t show the discount, contact the admissions team before you accept or pay anything. An award that is decided at admission is much easier to fix before enrolment than after it. Also check what the scholarship page says about deferring, because the award is tied to your starting year.
See the applying for scholarships page for Murdoch’s general scholarship guidance.

🌟 Why Apply
For a self-funded student, a guaranteed 15–20% off tuition is often worth more than a bigger scholarship you are unlikely to win. It lowers the amount you have to show for your visa, reduces the size of any education loan, and puts real money back into your first year’s living costs.
Perth adds to that. Living costs are generally lower than in Sydney or Melbourne, and Western Australia has a steady demand for graduates in health, data and engineering. ❓ Frequently Asked Questions
These questions are based on what students most commonly search about this program.
Q: Are Pakistani students eligible for Murdoch University scholarships 2027?
Yes. Pakistan is on the eligible-country list for the International Welcome Scholarships 2027 and 2028 (15%). The Futures Scholarship (20%) has no country list, so Pakistani students qualify if they enrol in one of its 10 courses. You must be self-funded, not sponsored.
Q: Do I need to apply separately for the Murdoch scholarship?
No. All three awards are given automatically at admission to students who meet every criterion. Your offer letter should show the discount. If it doesn’t, contact admissions before you accept.
Q: Is the Murdoch University scholarship fully funded?
No. It is a 15% or 20% reduction in tuition fees only. Living costs, OSHC, visa fees and travel are not included. For fully funded study, look at Australia Awards or Murdoch’s RTP research scholarship.
Q: Can I get both the Futures and Welcome scholarships together?
No. You can only hold one Murdoch scholarship. If your course qualifies for Futures, that is the higher 20% award.
Q: Can I get the Murdoch scholarship without IELTS?
The scholarship pages don’t set their own English requirement, but you still need to meet your course’s English requirement, usually through IELTS, PTE or TOEFL. Check the specific course page for accepted tests and any exemptions (verify on official website).
Q: Does the 15% or 20% discount apply for my whole degree?
Yes. The reduction is applied each teaching period for the prescribed length of your course. Check the official terms for any conditions on staying enrolled or deferring.
