📅 Last Updated: 2 November 2026

💡 This is a partial scholarship: it reduces tuition and covers visa and insurance, but not living costs. Two deadlines apply: submit your application in OSIRIS by 31 January 2027, and make sure it’s complete by 14 February 2027 (both 23:59 CET).

Radboud Scholarship 2027 — Tuition Cut to €2,771, Netherlands

Radboud University in Nijmegen, one of the Netherlands’ leading research universities, offers up to 26 scholarships to talented non-EU/EEA students starting an English-taught master’s in September 2027. The Radboud Scholarship Programme reduces tuition to about €2,771 (amount to be confirmed) and pays for your visa, residence permit, and health and liability insurance. It doesn’t cover living costs, so it’s a partial scholarship, but it can be combined with the NL Scholarship. Applying is simple: tick the scholarship option in your master’s application, then add a CV and two reference letters. Pakistani students are eligible, as the programme is open to all non-EU/EEA countries. This guide covers the quotas by faculty, how you’re judged, what it will really cost, and each deadline.

About Radboud University and the Scholarship

Founded in 1923, Radboud University is a broad research university in Nijmegen, the Netherlands’ oldest city, close to the German border. It’s known for neuroscience (the Donders Institute), molecular life sciences, computing, law, social sciences and management, and it has a wide range of English-taught master’s programmes.

The Radboud Scholarship Programme rewards outstanding non-EU/EEA students. Admission and scholarship selection are separate processes: you apply for your master’s in OSIRIS and indicate in the same application that you want the scholarship. Each faculty’s committee then picks its winners.

How it compares: compared with the University of Copenhagen’s scholarships, where a few winners get tuition plus living costs, Radboud’s award doesn’t include a stipend, but it has a published quota for each faculty and a simple application. It’s similar to the University of Twente Scholarship, another Dutch tuition-reduction award.

🎓 Scholarships by Faculty

Faculty Maximum Awards
Science 9
Social Sciences 7
Nijmegen School of Management 5
Arts 2
Law 2
Philosophy, Theology and Religious Studies 1
Total 26

Science, Social Sciences and Management hold most of the awards, so applicants in those fields have more places to compete for, though usually more competition too.

💰 What’s Covered (and What Isn’t)

  • ✅ Tuition reduced to €2,771 (amount to be confirmed), which is far below the normal non-EU rate. See Radboud’s costs page for regular fees
  • ✅ Visa and residence permit costs
  • ✅ Health and liability insurance (Aon Student Insurance)
  • ✅ Can be combined with the NL Scholarship
  • ❌ Living and study costs: not covered, and no stipend is mentioned
  • ❌ Flights: not mentioned

The real cost, in PKR: €2,771 is roughly PKR 9 lakh. Living in Nijmegen usually costs about €1,000–1,300 a month (see Radboud’s costs page), or roughly PKR 40–50 lakh a year (check current rates). You’ll also need to show proof of funds for the Dutch student visa (verify the current amount with Radboud or the IND). If your master’s lasts two years, confirm whether the award covers both years, as the page refers to “the scholarship year” (verify on official website).

📋 Eligibility

  • A non-EU/EEA passport. The programme is for all non-EU/EEA countries, with no excluded nationalities listed
  • Not eligible for the lower EU/EEA tuition fee for any other reason
  • A bachelor’s degree from outside the Netherlands. No Dutch degrees or prior Dutch education, except exchange periods within your foreign bachelor’s
  • Full admission to an English-taught Radboud master’s, stated in your formal admission letter
  • You must be able to meet Dutch visa conditions
  • Full-time enrolment for the scholarship year
  • English: meet your programme’s English requirement. Radboud recommends submitting proof before 14 February 2027
  • No minimum GPA is stated, but the award is for “outstanding study results”

🇵🇰 Pakistani students: eligible. A 4-year BS from a recognised university is the normal route, and programmes check subject fit closely. Awards go to strong profiles: high grades, relevant coursework and a good motivation letter. University ranking is one of the listed criteria, so if your university is less known internationally, stress your class position, publications and projects. Most importantly, have a funding plan for living costs before you apply, because the visa depends on it.

✅ Apply if you…

  • Have outstanding grades and a clear reason for your chosen master’s
  • Can cover about €12,000+ a year in living costs (savings, family, NL Scholarship)
  • Can get two strong reference letters, preferably academic
  • Can have your admission application complete by 14 February
  • Want an English-taught master’s at a respected Dutch research university

❌ Skip it if you…

  • Need a stipend or full funding, and have no way to fund living costs
  • Have a Dutch bachelor’s or earlier Dutch education (beyond exchange)
  • Hold an EU/EEA passport or qualify for EU/EEA fees
  • Want an Erasmus Mundus or joint-degree programme (excluded)
  • Want to study part-time

🏆 How You’re Selected

Each faculty’s selection committee scores applicants on three areas, and some programmes also hold interviews:

  1. Academic excellence: grades, test scores, publications, the relevance of your previous degree, and your university’s ranking
  2. Ambition: your motivation letter, the promise shown in past work, and life experience or extracurricular activities
  3. References: the quality of your two reference letters (see Radboud’s reference letter guidelines)

📄 Required Documents

  1. Master’s application documents in OSIRIS (transcripts, degree, motivation letter and so on, as your programme requires)
  2. Two reference letters (preferably academic)
  3. Curriculum vitae
  4. English language proof (recommended before 14 February 2027)

You may reuse documents you’ve already uploaded for your master’s application.

HEC note for Pakistani applicants: prepare HEC-attested degrees and transcripts with an official grading scale. Dutch admissions often need documents attested, so check Radboud’s requirements (verify on official website). Ask for references early, and see our recommendation letter guide.

🪜 Step-by-Step: How to Apply

  1. Choose an English-taught master’s and check its admission requirements and application procedure.
  2. Join a Radboud Q&A session if one is available.
  3. Start your application in OSIRIS and indicate that you want the Radboud Scholarship.
  4. Upload your CV and two reference letters, with your other documents.
  5. Submit by 31 January 2027, 23:59 CET. Student Admissions may return it for fee payment or corrections.
  6. Make sure it’s complete by 14 February 2027, 23:59 CET. Incomplete applications aren’t considered.
  7. Decision expected before mid-April 2027. You need full admission to keep the award.
  8. If selected: Radboud handles the visa process (MVV/residence permit), and you start on 1 September 2027.

🌍 Why Apply

A Dutch master’s is respected across Europe, and the Netherlands offers an orientation year visa that lets graduates look for work (verify current rules). Nijmegen is a friendly student city that’s far cheaper than Amsterdam. Even without a stipend, cutting non-EU tuition to about €2,771 can save you a very large part of the cost of your degree.

Gradualin Editor’s Note: Many websites wrongly call this “fully funded”. It’s not: you still need to fund your living costs. It’s a great deal if you have savings or family support, or can win the NL Scholarship too. If you need full funding, look at Copenhagen, VISTEC or our deadline calendar. Submit by 31 January, but don’t leave English tests and references until January.
